-Posters:
Posters gave no context of what the plot of the movie would be. They were mysterious, some didn't even feature characters in the movie just objects with odd quotes. Several artists had Get Out inspired photo shoots before the release date that alluded to some of the scenes and were released as ads. Some of these photos focused on the aspects of racial tension in the film alluding to the audience that this film was a cultural commentary. This attracted a more diverse audience then what a typical thriller/horror film sees.
-Trailers
Get out trailers made it transparent that it was a suspense film with a plot built on racial tension and unknown horrors. However, trailers still remained very mysterious and did not give away major plot points. Full length trailers could be found online and were featured in movie theaters. However, trailers shown on television "tricked" the audience into thinking that it was a horror movie in an attempt to attract the horror film watching demographic. Television ads were only 30 seconds and simply showed clips from the scenes of a more horrific nature from the film.
-Online
Get out had an official website that featured trailers, a brief synopsis, links to share on social media and hyperlinks to buy tickets. The website also included an"Art Gallery" featuring some photos inspired by the movie previously mentioned in the trailers segment. Another unique feature on the website was that anyone could upload a photo of themselves and put quotes from the movie and posters over it. Creating a Get Out inspired picture that the website encouraged participants to share on their social media platforms.
-Social Media
Get out was advertised as a trailer on many forms of social media. After its release it inspired the #Getoutchallenge which also encouraged viewers to come see the film.
-Other
A surprise screening of Get Out was shown at the Sundance film festival. This created buzz within the movie connoisseur community which attracted that demographic to come see the film.
